Korean Inspired Soy Glazed Pork Belly

Ingredients

  • 1 lb thinly sliced pork belly cut into bite-sized pieces
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Spicy Soy Glaze

  • 1 onion grated
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp mirin or honey
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 green onion chopped (plus more for garnish)
  • 1-2 jalapeño sliced (optional for heat)
  • 1-2 Thai red chili sliced (optional for heat)
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds plus more for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season 1 lb thinly sliced pork belly with salt and black pepper. 
  2. Heat a pan on medium-high and pan-fry pork belly until crispy and golden brown.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together 1 onion grated, 3 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp mirin or honey, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 1 green onion, 1-2 jalapeño, 1-2 Thai red chili, and black pepper.
  4. Drizzle the sauce over the pork belly. Turn heat to high and sauté for 2 minutes until the pork is coated and glossy.
  5. Sprinkle with 1 tsp sesame seeds and extra green onion. Serve hot!
